So, um....It's official! I have been accepted to Physician Assistant School! It was rather unexpected. After waiting and waiting, we had basically just written off the whole idea for this year. And had started to layout our plans associated with applications for next year. Can I just say, what a relief! For those of you who will be appling to a professional school, just expect to wait...it's like sitting on a release seat, above the water, and wondering when the dude will throw the ball.
Here's how it went about:
-Awesome ring tone on my cell sounded, "Hello?" I begin.
"Is this Chad?" The female voice was rather friendly.
"Yes, this is he."
"Hi, Chad. This 'blah blah' from James Madison University's PA Program. (I acknowledge her statement) "Did you receive our acceptance Packet?"
"Um...Nope." I answer her quickly in hopes that she will continue on.
"I presumed you hadn't because we hadn't heard from you. The dead line for the packet was last friday..."
I'm thinking, 'O, crap!!!' "We have moved in the last six months and I must not of updated my address information." Pause. "I wonder if it just hasn't been shipped to our correct address?" Fear has struck me by now. All the doubts and terror of having to write off another school flooded my thoughts.
What I havn't mentioned is the fact that I applied to 12 schools and had only two interviews! I didn't expect to get in this first year, especially when I had a ton of prereqs left...
Anyways, the 'blah, blah' on the other line asked me if I was still interested. "I am definitely interested!" I try to remain calm as I realize, I still have a chance.
"I will have our graduate commitee send you another packet and just ignore the deadline dates."
After the phone call, I quickly call my wife. Who is at the gym, ya 'no' answer! Not a good time to 'not answer your cell.' So, of course I call my mom next, then I have to call everyone. Thank goodness for facebook and texting!
I am excited to go to JMU in VA!
With is blog, I hope to update everyone on my progress in the PA program and to keep a personal journal. I hope that in some small way, I may inspire others. Also, I hope to address any questions on applying to Physician Assistant school.
