Week 2 of PA school!

Sunday, September 9, 2012
I am sitting here in the main PA room studying.  Specifically, I am looking over a Case Study associated with HIV.  Last week's was on lung cancer.  Pathophysiology class has been extremely interesting so far.  We study how the immune response works in great detail and then we read a Case Study.  These studies guide us through an applicable method regarding the material covered in class. For instance, we are given the Signs and Symptoms of the patient as well as their vital signs.  We are then asked questions related to our study material and the disease.  It's neat how it starts tying together.

Anyways, last Monday was a truck load of information.  2 hours in Anatomy lecture, straight to 2 hours of Pathophysiology, an hour lunch, and then 3 hours of Anatomy lab. Then cram time til midnight.  Tuesday: Truckload of information with regards to physical diagnose.  This class teaches us how to ask the right questions and how to write a good patient history report.  Cram til midnight.  Then up at 6, Wednesday is the same as Monday...All I am getting at, at times it feels like it never slows down for you and you should never slow down for it!

One of the ways in which I relieve stress is by going to the gym!  I do my best to go twice a week.  Just a quick 45 to 50 min, whole body workout!  Thank you Crossfit!!! This last week, our class schedule got all sorts of screwed with!  I had asked 5 or 6 of my classmates when our lab was to be, they said is was at 1145.  That gave me enough time to hit the gym!  I ran over, did my workout and started heading back by 1110.  I had received two texts by that time stating that the lab was actually at 1100! Whoops! So, I was a bit late for my physical diagnosis lab, but the professor was cool about it!

My girls are doing great!  Hannah is loving second grade.  If she didn't enjoy reading and going to school, I would have to worry!  Grace...Grace is still fun and energetic!  It's neat to see her growing  more and more.  She is beginning to come out of the slurred speech stage.  Her sentences our coming together even better.  You just have to watch what you do and say, otherwise she will copy it!
Clara, she is just super sweet!  She is beginning to pull herself up on everything!  She has learned how to climb some of the stairs.  She is definitely getting her balance down!

Abby and I spoke in Church today. I really enjoy hearing my wife's testimony! And I love teaching and giving talks.  With that said, I had to dig deep to find time to prepare for it.  Our ward is fantastic!!!
